SINGLET-SINGLET ENERGY-TRANSFER ACROSS REVERSED MICELLAR PHASE BOUNDARIES

摘要
Singlet-singlet energy transfer is observed between toluene and sodium salicylate and fluoranthene and Rose Bengal in the reversed micellar system Manoxol OT-cyclohexane-water. It is suggested that energy transfer occurs by a long-range mechanism between excited donor in the hydrocarbon phase and acceptor ion present in the central region of the reversed micelles which contain water pools. The rate of decay of donor fluorescence is exponential with a rate constant which increases as the acceptor concentration is increased. The concentration curve levels off in such a way as to indicate that multiple-occupancy of micelles by acceptors is occurring. © 1979.
