An effective mill training system must link the abstract processes of organizational development (OD) with the practical needs of training. This linkage is built by translating key OD concepts into a practical framework for directing frontline personnel involved in training. Without this linkage, the business vision is not implemented. Simple models and tables explain: Leadership context of business, OD, and training Phases of OD work Connections between OD processes and specific training activities showing the different focuses on organization, work group, and individual development Relationship of training to change and learning Organization of training, including training-program critical events, trainer-capability development, training-program implementation matrix, structured delivery, and assessment. The authors say these concepts can be used to create a training approach that is a model of good organization and empowers front-line personnel to assume responsibility for their own training.
