摘要
The optical properties of the self‐activated garnet system Cd3−xCaxGa2O12 activated with Nd3+ or Tb3+, respectively, are strongly influenced by the energetic levels of the activator within the band gap. For Nd3+ a weak radiative energy transfer from defect centres of the host to the activator takes place. On the opposite in the Tb3+ system efficient green emitting phosphors are obtained for cathode ray and UV irradiation. The high efficiency is due to a radiationless energy transfer between suitable defect centres and the activator. The luminescence properties are studied as function of the Cd/Ca ratio.
