Implications of The Use of Social Networks in the Increase of Gender Violence in Teenagers

The use of social networks not only has communicational implications, but also has influence in the relationships established in terms of gender, sexuality and identity Through the use of social networks, we can observe how teenager couples are developing control mechanisms which go unnoticed among the youth, and these are even considered as a proof of love. According to the results obtained through 457 questionnaires and 10 personal interviews with spanish teens, all between 13 and 18 years old, we have analyzed how the use of social networks goes beyond the contents they are sharing and how it affects on the perpetuation of the sex-gender discourse, which takes part in the origin of gender violence.
