A great variety of equipment has been designed for the investigation of low pressure vapor-liquid equilibria. Each specific apparatus has advantages and disadvantages depending on the operating conditions and on the properties of the substances. Measurements in the state of high dilution can be made either by measuring the differential temperature between two isobarically operated ebulliometers or by measuring the differential pressure between two isothermally operated static cells. The latter method is preferable if a high volatile component is added to a low volatile solvent. A thermostated dynamic VLE-apparatus and a recently designed differential pressure static double cell apparatus will be described, operating experience will be reported and experimental results will be presented and discussed.
