The strength of engineering materials at variable loads is associated with the gradual accumulation of fractures, propagation of cracks. Many equipment accidents happen due to fatigue of materials, which is proof of the insufficient theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. The difficulties of research in this field of science are related to the small size of the object of investigation. In cases where it is possible to see a crack, for example, in transparent materials, the fracture energy can be measured. Behavior of similar size samples made from different materials will make research versatile which is essential for testing structural materials used in shipbuilding. The peculiarity of brittle fracture lies in a small difference in quality phenomena. For example, under the action of a force in the middle of a glass beam, its destruction goes always the same way. Fracture mode indicates a loss of crack stability under the action of stored energy. For the study of controlled crack growth, authors propose technique and scheme of applied force.
