Nowadays, we meet plurality at school in the form of multiculturalism, multi religiosity, ideologies and world orientation. All these challenges have to be faced in the general area of education, but of course also in religious education to be able to fulfil a complex and partially divergent educational mission. This can be achieved on the one hand by supporting ( also religious) identity formation, on the other hand by promoting the capability of pluralism. The processing of religious and ideological diversity is a task for the whole school as institution and all the persons being involved in the educational process.
