摘要
Dendrite growth velocities measured in highly undercooled Ni-Si, at low solute concentrations, show evidence of the velocity enhancement predicted by the marginal stability hypothesis. As in earlier work, there is a critical undercooling below which growth velocities fit well the predictions of current models, and above which velocity varies linearly with undercooling. The critical undercooling is composition-dependent and correlates well with the reported onset of grain refinement.
