SOME OXYGEN-DONOR COMPLEXES OF (TETRAMETHYLETHYLCYCLOPENTADIENYL) THORIUM(IV) AND URANIUM(IV) TRICHLORIDES

The complexes [(η5-Me4EtC5)MCl3L2] (M = Th, U, L = MeCONMe2 (dma); M = U, L = Ph3PO(tppo), Me3CCONMe2(dmpva) have been prepared. The reaction of [(η5-Me4EtC5)UCl3(dma)2] with an equimolar amount of Tl(C5H5) in CH2Cl2 yields [(η5-Me4EtC5)(η5-C5H5)2UC1] and unchanged starting material, indicating that [(η5-Me4EtC5)(η5-C5H5)UCl2] is unstable with respect to disproportionation. The 1H- and 13C-NMR spectra of [(η5-Me4EtC5)ThCl3(dma)2] are reported, together with the IR spectra of all the complexes. Evidence for the formation of complexes of the type [(η5-Me4EtC5)MCl2 (HBPz3)(dma)x] (M = Th, U; Pz = C3H3N2(pyrazolyl)) is also reported. © 1979.
