摘要：

Fragile X syndrome is the most common form of inherited mental retardation. Only recently has it been possible to detect all carriers and transmitters. We review the syndrome and discuss the pedigree of a large fragile X family. Family doctors should identify cases in their practices so genetic counseling con be offered to the families.
