:
1. 1. The ability of ribosomes to bind nuclear RNA was studied by the Millipore and membrane filter method and by the technique of sucrose density gradient centrifugation. 2. 2. Evidence was presented that the filter method permits a rapid assay of the binding of labeled nuclear RNA (nRNA) by rat liver ribosomes. 3. 3. The ribosomes prepared from rat liver cells bind preferentially to labeled nRNA of rat liver cells and form a labeled RNA-ribosome complex in vitro. The formation of such a complex is not completely inhibited by unlabeled RNA of rat thymus cells or by bacteriophage f2 RNA, while completely inhibited by unlabeled nRNA of rat liver cells. 4. 4. The possibility that ribosomes recognize the homologous RNA was discussed. © 1969.
