REPUBLICANISM AND REPUBLICANS IN BILBAO

In this article we intend to summarize the main lines of research that we developed in our thesis project << Republicans in Bilbao (1868-1937)>>. Republicanism of Bilbao had a greater degree of unity than the rest of their Spanish colleagues. They differed from them claims foral from an ideological point of view. Wove a network of centers of sociability that allowed its members to learn practical Republican. Its political elite belong to the affluent middle class, while voters were in working-class districts.
