Superconducting thick films 1 mm wide and 1-100-mu-m thick were prepared on Ag substrates by gas deposition using a YBa2Cu3O7-x (123) ultrafine powder. After heat treatment at 850-degrees-C for 10h in O2 atmosphere, a 123 thick film (1-mu-m) with random grain orientation had a J(c) of 2300 A/cm2 at 77 K. The effects of Ag substrate and the depression of melting point of 123 ultrafine powder were discussed from a thermodynamic point of view.
